Periodontal Therapy

Gum disease treatment tailored to your stage, your health history, and your goals.

Periodontal Therapy

Treatment that starts with a real diagnosis

Gum disease rarely hurts until it’s advanced, which is why so much of it goes untreated. At your first visit, Dr. Sharon examines your gums and supporting tissues, reviews your medical history for contributing factors, and measures exactly where you stand.

From there, your treatment plan is built around your specific condition. Early disease may need deep cleaning with local anesthesia to remove bacterial debris and smooth the roots. More advanced cases get a coordinated plan that can include surgical care, always explained clearly before anything begins.

Periodontal therapy can address

  • Bleeding, swollen, or receding gums
  • Deep pockets around the teeth
  • Bone loss found on X-rays
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Gum disease flagged by your dentist

What to expect

How treatment usually goes

1

Evaluate

Your gum pockets are measured, your X-rays reviewed, and the findings explained before anything is decided.

2

Treat

Most early disease responds to deep cleaning under local anesthesia. Surgery is reserved for cases that truly need it.

3

FAQs

Your questions, answered

My dentist referred me. What happens now?

We work as a team with your general dentist. After your evaluation, we share findings and coordinate a plan together, so your gum treatment and your regular dental care fit into one picture.

Does periodontal treatment hurt?

Deeper cleanings are done with local anesthesia and most patients are surprised how comfortable they are. You’ll know exactly what to expect before we start.

Can gum disease be cured?

Periodontitis is a chronic condition. It can’t be cured outright, but it can absolutely be controlled. With treatment and regular maintenance visits, most patients keep their teeth healthy for life.
